3 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT HEADACHES IN ST JOHNS FL
Headaches affect millions of people every day! Migraines, Cluster, and tension headaches are the most common. Today I am going to talk to you about the 3 common causes of headaches in St Johns and 3 things to do to fix them.
1. Cervical spine dysfunction/ nerve irritation
Many Headaches come from the Cervical spine especially the upper cervical spine. Cervical/occipital headaches can cause a condition known as Occipital Neuralgia. This is when the Occipital nerve becomes irritated and causes pain in the back of the skull or pain that radiates toward the forehead. These can be caused by previous Traumas, segmental dysfunction, stress, poor posture, and spinal degeneration. Inflammation of the soft tissue can cause nerve irritation causing these headaches
Fix- Get your neck/Cervical spine checked monthly for dysfunction or injuries. 2. Stress/Hormone Headaches
Hormone imbalances and stress can cause severe tension headaches. Cortisol from stress and estrogen can trigger pain receptors to activate
Fixes- Eat a balanced healthy diet avoid artificial and processed foods to balance hormones. Exercise/stretch regularly, Practice Grounding or Earthing- (Walking barefoot on a natural surface IE the beach ) or do a outdoor activity away from your phone to De-Stress and relax.
3. Excessive Blue light, Text neck/ poor posture
In today's world we spend more than 4 hours staring at blue light from a computer, phone, or TV. This puts tremendous strain on your eyes and brain.
FIX- Bluelight blocking glasses. These can be found on amazon and work amazing. Also after texting and poor posture at the computer do this amazing stretch below called the CHAIR STRETCH. This helps with muscular imbalances and keeps your spine healthy and happy!
