In North St. Johns County, you will find Gourd Island. Along with the museum there are many picnic pavilions, a kayak launch boardwalk, a visiting center, and an observation and birding boardwalk.
Continuing south into St. Johns County you will find Anastasia Park. This is a large park positioned along Salt Run, an estuarine tidal marsh. Anastasia Park is located a t300 Anastasia Park Rd, St. Augustine, FL 32080. It spreads across more than 1,600 acres and provides activities and entertainment for children and adults of all ages. Camping, hiking, and wildlife viewing are a few of the many activities this beautiful park has to offer. Rentals such as paddleboards and kayaks are available for those who want to get out and explore the park by water. You can also rent bicycles if you wish to stay and explore on land around the trails and across the beach. Anastasia Park in St. Augustine is a great location for surfers to catch some waves. There are many local surf shops close by where you can purchase gear and mingle with other local surfers. Low tide serves as a great time to take a leisurely walk on the beach. During your walk be on the lookout for an assortment of shells, shark teeth, and other ocean life that may have been washed up onto shore.
