Many people visit the chiropractor for the first time because they are experiencing pain in different areas of their body. Some people also visit us because they want to begin a preventive treatment plan to ensure that they stay healthy.

We understand the body and how it works. During your first visit, we will spend some time talking so that you can explain any pain that you have. We may feel around the painful areas to get a better sense of what is going on. We will probably take X-rays to get a good look at your alignment, though they are not always needed.

We truly believe that pain is often the result of something in our body being out of alignment. We will work hard to ensure that your body gets back into alignment so that you are pain free again.

Our goal is to help you to feel better (and stay that way) as quickly as possible. It is possible to live a life without pain.

The Back in Motion promise

No surprises, no upsells, no jargon.

You walk in for help. We treat you like a person, not a number.

1
No surprises on cost

We discuss exactly what you owe before treatment. Auto, VA, and self-pay rates are transparent and stated up front.

2
No upsells

Dr. Colby recommends only the care your condition needs. If your case calls for fewer visits, that is what we tell you.

3
Plain-language findings

We show you the X-rays and explain what we see in language you actually understand. Questions are welcomed, not rushed.

Step by step

What happens, in order.

No surprises. No upsells. Here is exactly what happens from the moment you walk in.

01

Welcome & Paperwork

We greet you, get you comfortable, and have you fill out a short intake form. Plan to arrive 10 to 15 minutes early. If you printed your forms ahead of time, even better.

A typical first visit

From the parking lot to walking out feeling better.

Roughly 60 to 90 minutes, end to end. Here is how the time usually breaks down.

0 to 15 min

Arrive & settle in

Park, walk in, meet the front desk. Short intake form on a clipboard or tablet. We have water and a comfortable waiting area.

15 to 30 min

History & exam

Dr. Colby sits down with you and listens, then runs the physical exam: posture, motion, neuro and orthopedic tests.

30 to 50 min

Imaging & findings

If your case calls for X-rays, we take them on site. Dr. Colby walks you through the images and the findings, in plain language.

50 to 90 min

Treatment & plan

First adjustment, soft tissue work, or modalities, whatever your case needs. Then the plan, the timeline, and the cost. No surprises.

Come prepared

What to bring.

The more you bring, the faster we get straight to care.

Photo ID

A driver's license or any state-issued ID.

Imaging or Records

Any X-rays, MRIs, or records related to your condition. Bring them on a disc, USB, or printed.

Auto Insurance Info

If you were in a car accident, bring your auto insurance card and the claim or police report number.

VA Referral

If you are a veteran with VA Community Care, bring your referral and member ID. We handle the rest.

Comfortable Clothes

Wear something loose enough to move in. We may ask you to perform a few range-of-motion checks.

Your Questions

Write them down before you come. Dr. Colby will go through them with you, one by one.

How patients pay

Three paths in. Pick the one that fits.

What you owe depends on which path you arrive through. Each one is straightforward and discussed up front.

Path 1

Auto Accident

If you were in a car accident, your Florida PIP coverage typically pays for chiropractic care. We file the paperwork for you.

  • 14-day Florida PIP window applies
  • We file PIP claims directly
  • Coordinate with your attorney
  • Most patients owe nothing out of pocket
See auto accident care
Path 2

VA Community Care

If you are a veteran with an approved VA Community Care referral, your chiropractic visits are fully covered.

  • 8 to 12 treatments typically authorized
  • No out-of-pocket cost to you
  • We coordinate with your VA team
  • Records sent back to the VA throughout care
See VA process
Path 3

Self-Pay

If neither auto nor VA applies, we offer transparent self-pay rates. No insurance maze.

  • Cost discussed before treatment
  • No hidden charges or surprise bills
  • Pay by card, HSA, or FSA
  • Discount packages available for multi-session plans

What comes next

After your first visit. What follow-ups look like.

Most patients see a few changes in the first week. Here is what typical follow-up care looks like.

01

Same week reassessment

Most patients return 1 to 3 days later for a quick reassessment and second treatment. We track how the body responded.

02

Shorter follow-up visits

Routine follow-ups run 20 to 30 minutes. Adjustment, soft tissue work, modalities, and a check-in on how you are feeling.

03

Home exercise plan

We teach you the corrective movements that lock in your progress between visits. Short, simple, things you will actually do.

04

Graduation, not lifetime

The goal is to discharge you to maintenance, not weekly visits forever. We tell you when you have made the progress to step back.

Common questions

New patient questions.

If your question isn't here, send us a message and we will reply within one business day.

Plan on about 60 to 90 minutes for your first visit, which includes intake, exam, X-rays if indicated, and your first treatment. Follow-up visits are typically 20 to 30 minutes.
Bring a photo ID, any imaging or medical records related to your condition, and your insurance information if you were in an auto accident or have a VA referral. Arrive 10 to 15 minutes early to complete intake forms.
Most patients receive their first adjustment, soft tissue work, or modality treatment on the same visit. Dr. Colby will only adjust if it is appropriate after the exam.
Most patients find adjustments relieving rather than painful. Dr. Colby uses gentle, low-force techniques and explains every step before he does it.
We accept auto insurance for accident-related injuries and Veterans Affairs (VA) referrals. We do not accept other health insurance, but our self-pay rates are designed to be affordable and transparent.
For auto and VA Community Care patients, your covered first visit is typically billed to your insurance with no out-of-pocket cost. For self-pay patients, we discuss the exact cost up front during your initial conversation. No surprise charges.
That is fine. Dr. Colby will only adjust if it is appropriate after the exam. Many patients start with soft tissue work, decompression, or modalities, with adjustment added later as the body settles.
No referral is needed for self-pay or auto-insurance patients. Veterans using VA Community Care do need a referral from the VA. See the veterans page for the 3-step referral process.
New patient appointments are usually available within the same week, and often within the next 1 to 2 business days. Schedule online or send us a message and we will get back to you.
That is one of the most common things we hear. Dr. Colby will walk you through what is happening before he does it, and he can use lower-force techniques like the Activator method if you would rather start there. Nothing happens without your okay.
Absolutely. A spouse, parent, friend, or caregiver is welcome to join you in the exam room. Many patients prefer to have a second set of ears when Dr. Colby walks through findings.

Ready when you are.
